Forza Motorsport 3 introduces Bugatti Veyron

As reported on Joystiq, Forza Motorsport 3 has introduced, for the first time in video games, the Bugatti Veyron. I really don’t need to emphasize just how important this car is to the motoring world.

Thank you Turn 10 and thank you Bugatti.

Chevy Volt in Pre-Production Testing

In a press draft released on Tuesday, General Motors announced a new set of claims for the hybrid-electric Chevy Volt.

Without further complication, here are the details as follows; it is “expected to achieve” 230 miles per gallon in city driving, over 100 MPG composite mileage while running off the 1.3 Liter 4 cylinder generator and a 40 mile battery-only range when charged from home or another power source.

The high mileage estimates for the volt simply violate the laws of thermodynamics. Thus,  in order to achieve the targeted MPG, owners would be required to use a portable 110 volt charger (6 to 8 hour charge time) or securely installed 240 volt charger (3 to 4 hour charge time) from a garage every night. Although the ability to charge from home is quite utopic, the 100mpg while running on the engine claim they are shooting for is simply stunning.

Although these claims are absolutely amazing, one must remember the difference between a claim and real world statistics. We can not forget the outlandish claims Toyota made for their Prius back in 2006, that it could achieve up to 60 mpg when owners claimed only 45 mpg. Toyota blamed everything from a heavy foot, road conditions and even the onboard computer compensating for headwinds. Eco-Friendly hybrid owners even accused the complaining audience of “disloyalty” to the “hybrid movement” which was just…. fantastic.

With full production launch aimed for 2010, there is only hope the Volt will save a troubled company from more internal bloodshed.
